Job description
The field of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) is moving fast. Although ADAS have been available in the European market for over two decades, systems have become increasingly prevalent on new vehicles, especially passenger cars. Next to offering the driver additional comfort, some features also have the potential to avoid or mitigate the severity of a crash. Capabilities of the latest systems have expanded that far they allow the first glimpses of automation in production vehicles.
Also within the area of commercial vehicles the number of available ADAS features is rapidly increasing. Most desired within the sector are systems adding safety and productivity if available for a small additional cost. As a result, comparing ADAS features on the passenger and commercial vehicle market, huge differences can be seen. However, expectation is that the commercial vehicle market will follow the trend the passenger car market is currently going through.
Objective of this assignment is to make an overview of state of the art ADAS features in passenger cars:
- Which functionalities are offered
- How is the interaction between driver and the features
- What sensors are used by the systems
To collect the information different sources can be used: internet, owner manuals, dealer visits, …
Finally the information should allow you to derive your view on the commercial vehicle ADAS trend over the next years.
Start assignment: September 2019.
