Job description

Engineering Base Engine 2 team is seeking proactive intern to investigate the Impact of Powertrain Hybridization on Engine Piston and Liner System Durability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify potential failure modes in engine piston and liner systems caused by powertrain hybridization.
  • Complete a detailed Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA), including risk ranking based on severity, probability, and detection.
  • Develop and recommend effective risk mitigation strategies to improve system durability.

Objective:

  • Analyze and assess durability risks associated with hybrid powertrain integration and provide actionable recommendations to mitigate these risks.

Your profile

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA processes and risk assessment methodologies is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Department

Within PACCAR Inc., DAF Engine Development is the center of competence for engine development. In our state-of-the-art engine development center, we develop engine families for future regulations. Our engines and trucks are best-in-class products in the transportation world, always driven by providing environmentally friendly products with the best cost-effectiveness and highest reliability for our customers. The Engine Hardware & Design department is responsible for developing new engine hardware concepts and maintaining in-production engine families. The department is divided into groups: CAE, Fuel, Air & EGR, Base Engine, and Engine Auxiliaries. The Base Engine 2 team currently has an open position for a bachelor graduation student.
