Job description

We are looking for an intern to join our Project Management Office to explore Supplier Risk Management—an important part of making sure projects finish on time, stay within budget, and meet quality standards.

Your Main Goal:
Assess supplier risks by calculating a Supplier Risk Index for different suppliers and how that translates into budget and timing forecasts.

What You Will Do:

  • Research what supplier risks are and identify the most important risk factors.
  • Work closely with project managers, supplier quality and procurement teams to collect data and score suppliers.
  • Calculate the Supplier Risk Index for each supplier based on your research.
  • Analyze and compare the results to understand impact on budget and timing and make a decision model to select suppliers that are the best fit.
  • Write a report and build a presentation explaining your findings and recommendations.
  • Expand the existing Reference Class Project Overview with new (supplier) information and latest projects
Your Scope of Work:
  • Review how supplier risks are currently managed at DAF.
  • Learn about supplier risk in projects and why it matters.
  • Understand common factors that affect supplier performance.
  • Define risk factors and decide how much each one should count.

Your profile

We are looking for an enthusiastic HBO or WO student who is pursuing a degree in fields such as Product Development, Business, Economics, Project Management or similar. The number of internship days and in office days is negotiable. 

  • You are enrolled in an HBO or WO program in a field like science, engineering or business. 
  • You enjoy financial discussions, building plans and analyzing large data sets.
  • You like to build presentations that are easy to understand and persuade the audience.
  • You are comfortable to pro-actively engage with new people.
  • You speak fluent Dutch or English.

Department

The Project Management Office is part of the Product Development organization of DAF Trucks and is located in Eindhoven. The department plays a crucial role in managing all major future developing projects with in DAF Trucks both in Europe as worldwide. The department manages project budgets and timelines and build estimates for future projects to build product roadmaps and facilitate senior level decision making.

This happens in close collaborations with operations, purchasing and marketing & sales, where budget and timelines of projects are important to manage the organization. Currently, budgets and timelines are based on time consuming manual creation and multitude of personal interactions and department dependencies, and the goal is to have reference class projects that help to quickly and robustly generate the same results.
