Job description

During your internship, you will be part of a professional project team to replace the Wholesale financing system. Scope for the intern is to design and build new PowerBI reports, on top of our existing Data Warehouse, based on an on-prem SQL Server. You will be guided by the project manager and experienced co-workers, but hands-on skills and just-do-it mentality are expected from day one.

Phase 1 of your internship will be about requirements analysis to define the new PowerBI reports for the Wholesale Financing business. Stakeholders to interview are end-users from the Credit, Treasury, Operations, Accounting & Control departments within PACCAR Financial. Here, close co-operation across departments is essential. Your output of Phase 1 is to deliver the design for the new reporting layouts.

Phase 2 will be about data analysis to identify gaps and data modeling to design the structure that our existing Data Warehouse would need to support, in order to populate the new reports. Here, you are expected to discuss the results of your analysis in-depth with the product owners of the source systems and the Data Warehouse. Your output of Phase 2 is to deliver the entity relationship diagram, as well as the data mappings between source and target systems.

Phase 3 will be about development of the new PowerBI reports. You construct PowerBI, while other team members work on structuring the Data Warehouse. Your mappings define the integration with source systems. Here, close co-operation within the IT team is essential. Your output of Phase 3 is to deploy the new reports up to the certification environment, where end-users will test the reports.

Phase 4 will be about the deployment of the new reports to the production environment. You co-configure the pipeline and document the support manual for maintainers. Then we celebrate!
