Job description
Engineering Base Engine 2 team is seeking a dedicated intern to create a Sealing Guideline / tool aimed at supporting design engineers in the development of seals and O-ring mating surfaces.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop a detailed document outlining design guidelines / tool for groove and mating surface requirements, including installation procedures.
- Define various sealing media and their appropriate applications.
- Specify sealing pressure parameters and considerations.
- Establish seal and O-ring requirements such as compression, stretch, volume swell, and housing fill.
- Incorporate relevant ISO standards and industry best practices.
- Identify and explain the most common failure modes related to sealing.
- Conduct a benchmark analysis of different sealing concepts.
Objective:
- Create a practical and informative guideline / tool to aid design engineers in designing effective seals and O-ring mating surfaces.
Your profile
- Currently pursuing a degree in BSc Automotive, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Basic understanding of sealing technologies and/or engineering design principles.
- Strong research and documentation skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work independently and within team
Department
Within the PACCAR Inc. DAF Engine Development is the centre of competence for engine development. In our state-of-the-art engine development centre we develop engine families for the future regulations. Our engines and trucks are best in class products in the transportation world being always driven by providing environmentally friendly products with best cost-effectiveness and highest reliability for our customers.
The department Engine Hardware & Design is responsible for the development of new engine hardware concepts and maintaining the in-production engine families. The department is divided in the groups: CAE , Fuel, Air & EGR, Base Engine and Engine Auxiliaries.
For the Base Engine 2 group we have an open position for a bachelor student.
