Manager Exhibition & Events

"I am proud of the fact that we have succeeded in generating more uniformity and recognisability."

While working for his former employer, Eric had to visit DAF on a regular basis. When his contact person at DAF retired, Eric was regarded as the most obvious choice to succeed him. “After many years working as an Account manager, I realized that I had had my fill of sales”, says Eric. “My interest in the Marketing & Communication side of things had grown enormously over the years and what attracted me in particular to DAF was the pride and passion expressed by its employees when they talked about the company. I wanted to be part of that.”

In his current position as Manager Exhibition & Events, Eric is responsible for positioning the DAF brand at trade fairs and events all around the world. He also fulfills an advisory role for DAF organizations around the globe and independent DAF dealers with regard to trade fairs and events. “Positioning DAF as a brand gives me a real kick. I am responsible for everything related to the organization of or participation in trade fairs and events. I see my current position more as a project management role, one that presents major challenges in terms of planning and thinking ahead."

In recent years, Eric has worked on a number of fantastic projects. “I am proud of the fact that we have succeeded in generating more uniformity and recognisability for our customers over the past few years. It’s amazing how much our (relatively small) team has been able to achieve. We complement each other and work well together, and that makes everything very efficient and me very happy. Colleagues sometimes say to me: “You always have a smile on your face when you’re walking around the office.” And that’s true, I really enjoy the work I do.

What could we do better? DAF sometimes plays it a bit too safe, in my opinion. When it comes to making decisions, and certainly from a marketing perspective, I think it could be a little more daring. Taking a risk every now and then might do no harm at all. I would describe the DAF culture as a mix of dedication to and passion for the product. People really go the extra mile here. And, directly or indirectly, everyone is involved in making our product: the truck.”
