Functiebeschrijving

Startingdate: August/September 2026

As an Embedded Data Logging & Analytics Intern, you are part of the engineering department and responsible for researching, designing, and prototyping a modern vehicle data logging and analysis solution for next‑generation DAF trucks. You will contribute to connected‑vehicle technologies spanning in‑vehicle software, data processing, and optional cloud analytics.

  • You will research state‑of‑the‑art automotive data logging and analysis solutions for next‑generation vehicles.
  • You will create a feature concept and high‑level architecture for a CAN‑based data logging function for test or field vehicles.
  • You will design and implement a CAN data logging prototype in Python or C/C++, including data capture, filtering, decoding, and high‑performance logging.
  • You will work with industry‑standard technologies such as CAN FD, SAE J1939, ASAM MDF4, and secure cloud telemetry using MQTT over TLS.
  • You will choose one additional technical direction to further deepen the internship scope:
    • transition the prototype toward a C/C++ embedded or Linux‑based implementation, or
    • apply cloud analytics and machine‑learning techniques for time‑series analysis, anomaly detection, or extracting meaningful vehicle insights.
  • You will test and document both the envisioned ideal solution for next‑generation vehicles and the realized prototype implementation.

Jouw profiel

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in ICT, Embedded Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • (work or Internship) Experience: Experience or affinity with embedded software development and automotive or industrial software systems is preferred.
  • Other experience: Preferably experience with Python and/or C/C++, CAN‑based communication, and basic data analysis; exposure to machine learning is a plus.
  • Language skills: Strong communication skills in English are required; knowledge of Dutch is a plus.
  • Competencies: Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, creativity, good planning and organization abilities, and a collaborative mindset.
