Functiebeschrijving
For the driveline development department, we are looking for an engineer driven axle.
You will design parts of the driven rear axle; in the coming years, a major update needs to be made to our rear axle portfolio. The increasing GCWs (Gross Combination Weights), torques, and power mean that our current rear axles no longer fully meet the requirements.
Your responsibilities:
- As an engineer, you take responsibility for designing parts of the axles, differential housings, axle shafts, bearings, etc.;
- You analyze associated risks and are responsible for establishing the Design Validation Plan for these parts;
- In daily contact with the rest of the axle team, you coordinate which specification requirements are set for the parts you design;
- You strive for an optimal compromise between performance, energy consumption, prevention of field complaints, and the lowest possible cost;
- You organize the release of newly developed parts for testing and production;
- You coordinate with the factories on how your design can be best manufactured and assembled;
- Finally, you look to the future and investigate possible innovations within your field, often in collaboration with suppliers, and propose these as future project content.
As an Engineer driven axle, you work together with the Line Lead Engineer Axles and report to the Engineering Supervisor Driveline Development.
Jouw profiel
For this challenging position, we would like to get in touch with candidates who have a technical education at HBO+ (higher professional education) or WO (university) level.
- You have an affinity with automotive driveline technology, preferably mechanical design;
- You are familiar with DAF development processes and are able to bring overview and structure to your work area;
- You are persistent, driven, and a team player;
- You have ambitions to grow within the DAF organization.
- You have a good command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written.
If you have a matching profile but it does not meet all the job requirements, we still encourage you to apply.
Afdeling
Within the Powertrain Product Development department, the driveline development group is responsible for the development and application of PACCAR transmission and axle components. You will become part of a young axle team within this group.
The axles are developed by DAF PACCAR in Eindhoven and produced in our Gear factory in Eindhoven and the Axle factory in Westerlo (Belgium). For this position, you will work closely with the factories, the vehicle driveline department, and the DAF testing department.
