Functiebeschrijving

As NA Certification Compliance Engineer you will act as the liaison between compliance and product development for PACCAR engines/powertrains certified for North America. This role provides compliance oversight for Emissions and On Board Diagnostics (OBD) certification and testing.

Your tasks:

  • Key role in developing Certification test plans, and responsibility for monitoring and ensuring certification plan followed precisely;
  • Ensure certification engine aging and emissions/OBD testing are conducted in alignment with legal requirements;
  • Assume a lead role in evaluating all certification testing for compliance with the standards, documenting results and effectively communicating all findings to senior leadership;
  • Develop emissions compliance reports by analyzing and summarizing measurement data and trends sourced from certification, running change and field fix software;
  • Review test results in certification documents to ensure accuracy and completeness;
  • Will act as PACCAR SEA Administrator (Selective Enforcement Audit).  In the event of an EPA SEA audit, this engineer would be responsible for producing the SEA test plan, submission to EPA and to carrying out the SEA;
  • Will act as PACCAR administrator for any EPA/CARB confirmatory tests;
  • Collaborate with the product development team to support timely and thorough responses to agency inquiries, including supporting issue resolution and preparing materials for agency discussions or requests related to certification testing.
  • Excel in working seamlessly with cross-functional teams across the global organization, leveraging effective collaboration with external suppliers to address technical topics.

In this function, you will report to the Engine Production Compliance (EPC) Manager and will be embedded within the Global Product Emissions Compliance team at DAF.

Jouw profiel

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field required. Master's degree preferred;
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in OBD or emissions compliance, preferably within the automotive industry;
  • Strong understanding of EPA and CARB regulations (e.g., 1971.1);
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Any heavy-duty product development experience is a plus, especially in powertrain software development and/or calibration areas;
  • Strong PC skills, including proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to work independently and perform effectively under remote management oversight.

Afdeling

The Engine Production Compliance team consists of 4 compliance engineering professionals responsible for post-production compliance testing. The department conducts mandatory compliance testing and risk reduction testing activities including Manufacturer Self Test (MST), Deterioration Factor (DF) Verification and High Mileage Testing (HMT).

The team works collaboratively with product development to ensure our products comply with legal and regulatory requirements and that all related required disclosures are clearly documented and disclosed.
