Job description

For this assignment you will investigate the electrical charging plans for Battery Electric Truck throughout Europe, both on:
Public Charging:

  • Check current plans on electrical infrastructure on both European and national levels;
  • Estimate if these plans are sufficient for supporting the roll out of Z.E. trucks;
  • Define key criteria / enablers ánd risks for the public charging infrastructure to be rolled out.

Home / Depot Charging:
  • What are enablers / risks for installing depot chargers or Z.E. trucks;
  • Check the current status of electrical grid congestion and future estimates on resolving this in several large European countries.

The assignment consists of an in-dept desk-research and discussions with local DAF subsidiaries throughout Europe for the status and information on electrical infrastructure. With this information an estimate has to be made how many trucks can be charged in future years: what will be the possible Z.E. truck fleet on the European roads in the 2030-2035 timeframe?

The result of your assignment is giving DAF a clear indication of the current status and plans on electrical chargers for ZE trucks, including an overview of the risks and enablers for the roll out, per main region. 

Your profile

  • For this assignment we are looking for a bachelor student, Industrial Engineering (Technische Bedrijfskunde) or Marketing Management (Commerciële Economie), with a strong affinity with logistics and strategic planning;
  • From a wide approach with a helicopter view you can go into details. The challenge is to estimate future trends and level of impact;
  • You are able to report the results of your assignment on a high level and give a clear view on the future impacts;
  • As this is an assignment where you will have discussions with people from other countries, you have to be able to communicate in English.

Department

The Product & Services Planning department of DAF Trucks N.V., with 7 employees a relative small department, is defining strategic plans for the coming 5 to 10 years for Products and Services. 
Our department defines the DAF product & Services roadmap and presents potential new projects to the DAF management.

The future strategic plans are strongly depending on (amongst others) future legal requirements (global, European, national and local), technology roadmaps and customer wishes/requirements.
