We are recruiting a Service & Engineering Director for the UK & Ireland. Reporting directly to the Managing Director UK & Ireland, this role forms a key part of the Senior Management Team.
The Service & Engineering Director is responsible for ensuring that the DAF dealer network consistently meets DAF Service Policy standards and delivers exceptional customer satisfaction. Through strong leadership of the After Sales function, the role plays a critical part in maintaining and strengthening DAF UK’s market‑leading position.
- Be a senior ambassador for the DAF Trucks and PACCAR brands, promoting their values, ethos, and strategic objectives.
- Lead, develop, and inspire the After Sales organisation, including both head office and field‑based teams.
- Build and maintain highly effective working relationships with the DAF franchised dealer network to ensure service excellence and consistent standards.
- Develop strong partnerships with key fleet and retail customers, supporting long‑term customer loyalty and satisfaction.
- Control and monitor goodwill (coulance) spend across the UK and Ireland, ensuring effective support of both product quality and customer partnerships.
- Oversee engineering operations, including product recalls, the engineering helpdesk, and TechShare activities.
- Ensure full compliance with relevant operating legislation, including type approval and homologation requirements.
- Monitor and manage warranty performance, ensuring appropriate and commercially balanced outcomes for customers and dealers.
- Actively contribute as a member of the UK Senior Management Team, providing leadership, insight, and strategic input to support the wider business.

The role is based at our Sales and Marketing headquarters in Haddenham, the role requires regular travel across the UK and occasional travel within Europe.
The successful candidate will have:
- Proven experience operating at senior leadership level, with the ability to contribute effectively within an executive or senior management team.
- Strong technical and product knowledge, with the capability to resolve complex engineering and operational challenges.
- Excellent commercial awareness, sound judgement, and confident decision‑making skills.
- Outstanding communication, presentation, and relationship‑building capabilities.
- Effective questioning and active listening skills, with a collaborative and engaging leadership style.
- High levels of drive, resilience, and personal energy.
- A passion for the DAF brand and a natural ability to act as an authentic brand ambassador.
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
- A degree in business, engineering, or a related field; a master’s degree and evidence of continuous professional development are desirable.
