Within the ePowertrain HV Power Distribution team, you will research, define, develop, validate, and implement cutting edge charging technologies for all PACCAR global vehicle divisions. You will take a system level optimization approach and work closely with a global, cross functional, multicultural team. As PACCAR accelerates its zero emissions roadmap, this role offers the opportunity to shape that strategy and ensure PACCAR EVs meet customer expectations and climate goals.
 
This position is based at the DAF Trucks division in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, while the direct supervisor and many team members are located in Washington State, USA. The successful candidate for this role is expected to maintain work hours ending no earlier than 18:00 daily, to allow sufficient collaboration time overlap with the team in Washington. This role will include substantial virtual collaboration with and up to 10% travel to PACCAR locations in Washington and Texas to enable a powertrain supporting the Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF vehicles.

Key Contributions:

  • Lead the full lifecycle of the HV power distribution system for battery electric and hybrid vehicles, ensuring safety, performance, and compliance
  • Define and manage system level architecture for HV power distribution across global platforms
  • Work with suppliers and purchasing to align scope, manage deviations, and secure release documentation
  • Support scope definition and resource planning, including NRE, capital, and FTE estimates
  • Develop and track system development plans, coordinating prototype hardware/software testing; Manage system level QCTP metrics and ensure targets are met
  • Lead safety design reviews for the HV system and its subcomponents
  • Define and oversee implementation of diagnostic strategy across HV system components
  • Create validation plans to ensure performance and reliability of the system across global product lines

Jouw profiel

You hold an MSc in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) and bring at least five years of experience in new product development and system engineering, ideally within EV or automotive charging systems. You have a proven ability to translate system level requirements into clear architectures, oversee integration and validation activities, and effectively manage suppliers throughout the development lifecycle. You are a motivated leader and enjoy bringing together key people from around the organization to build a high-quality integrated system.
 
Additional Skills & Experience:

  • Strong knowledge of HV power distribution system design, including circuit protection, safety systems, commissioning, and service
  • Strong knowledge of EV systems, including high voltage components, contactors, fusing, arc flash calculations, system capacitance and inductance budgeting
  • Familiarity with ECE R100 and other applicable regulations
  • Experience managing full system lifecycles: risk mitigation, Safety Design Reviews, and diagnostic concepts
  • Familiarity with gated development processes and resource planning (NRE, capital, FTE)
  • Ability to create and manage QTCP metrics to ensure delivery on cost, quality, schedule, and performance
  • Experience leading cross functional teams and collaborating with global suppliers on integrated solutions
  • Strong analytical skills and engineering judgment
  • Self-motivated and passionate about driving progress of the larger team
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%

Afdeling

The HV Power Distribution team is a dedicated group within the Zero Emissions Department of PACCAR Global Powertrain. In addition to our direct component ownership of the power distribution modules, cables and connectors, we take an outsized role in the design of the powertrain system as a whole, owning the architecture, safety concept, and bringing stakeholders across the powertrain and vehicle together. Technical aspects of the role will touch on power conversion, fusing and circuit protection, safety systems such as isolation monitoring and HVIL, controls and network communication, and pushing the limits of current carrying in vehicles. We are looking for candidates who are technically knowledgeable, have a passion for learning and embody continuous improvement in a highly integrated, collaborative environment.
