Purchasing Product Related is responsible for purchasing components, parts and materials destined for the end product. As a purchaser in this department, it is important that you are able to correctly interpret the technical requirements specified by the Product Development department. Based on these requirements, you purchase materials and parts that are used to manufacture the end product: the trucks. DAF and PACCAR are increasingly working using the design-to-spec principle, namely that external suppliers design products to meet DAF specifications. Purchasing Product Related is divided into several sub-departments:
Purchasing Engine Related Purchasing Engine Related is responsible for purchasing components and parts for the engines. This includes gearboxes, engine parts and cooling systems. Although the majority of our products are self-developed at DAF, some components are developed by our suppliers.
Purchasing Chassis Related Purchasing Chassis Related is responsible for purchasing, for example, shaft parts such as supports and brackets, chassis beams and cast and forged parts. These parts are used for chassis assembly.
Purchasing Cabin Related Purchasing Cabin Related is responsible for purchasing materials or parts used in the cabin. This includes interior and exterior parts and sub-components developed to DAF designs. Examples include the dashboard, seats, glass and interior upholstery.
