PACCAR Engines

All PACCAR engines are designed to offer the highest standards of economy, reliability and durability to please operators, while comfortable power benefits the driver. The 6-cylinder, in-line engines with smart highpressure injection systems are cleaner and deliver high power and torque at low engine speeds.

PACCAR MX 12,9 litre engine

The 12.9 litre PACCAR MX engine, from the prestigious DAF XF105, is available in 360, 410, 460 and 510 hp versions with high torques ranging from 1,775 up to 2,500 Nm.

The MX engine can be specified to comply with Euro 5 emission standards thanks to the SMART injection system and SCR technology.

The new engine design results in increased service intervals to 90,000 km. With synthetic oil and centrifugal filter, intervals of up to 150,000 km can be achieved, resulting in lower operating costs and maximum vehicle availability.

An integrated MX engine brake can be specified, providing excellent engine brake performance from 200 kW at 1,500 rpm to 325 kW at 2,100 rpm.

Type Performance Torque Available in
MX265 265 kW / 360 hp / 1,500 - 1,900 rpm 1,775 Nm / 1,000 - 1,400 rpm CF85
MX300 300 kW / 410 hp / 1,500 - 1,900 rpm 2,000 Nm / 1,000 - 1,400 rpm CF85 / XF105
MX340 340 kW / 460 hp / 1,500 - 1,900 rpm 2,300 Nm / 1,000 - 1,400 rpm CF85 / XF105
MX375 375 kW / 510 hp / 1,500 - 1,900 rpm 2,500 Nm / 1,000 - 1,400 rpm CF85 / XF105

PACCAR PR 9.2 litre engine

The 9.2 litre PACCAR PR engine delivers a maximum power of 250, 310 or 360 hp with maximum torques of 1,050, 1,275 and 1,450 Nm respectively.

The engine is available to comply with Euro 5 emission standards thanks to the SMART injection system and DAF SCR technology.

Optimisation of the combustion process and components leads to service intervals of 75,000 km. For long distance applications and when using synthetic oil and a centrifugal filter, service intervals of up to 100,000 km are available.

The standard exhaust brake, operated with a foot pedal, offers a maximum braking power of 170 kW at 2,800 rpm.

Type Performance Torque Available in
PR183 183 kW / 250 hp / 2,200 rpm 1,050 Nm / 1,000 - 1,700 rpm CF75
PR228 228 kW / 310 hp / 2,200 rpm 1,275 Nm / 1,200 - 1,700 rpm CF75
PR265 265 kW / 360 hp / 2,200 rpm 1,450 Nm / 1,200 - 1,700 rpm CF75

PACCAR GR 6.7 litre engine

The 6.7 litre PACCAR GR engine offers maximum outputs of 220, 250 and 285 hp and torques of 850, 950 and 1,020 Nm respectively.

The GR-engine complies with the Euro 4 and Euro 5 emission standard thanks to the high-pressure common rail injection system and SCR technology.

The use of more efficient and lowmaintenance components in combination with optimised cooling and combustion allows service intervals to be increased to 35,000 km for distribution applications and 55,000 km for the long haul, thus reducing operating cost and increasing uptime.

The standard exhaust brake offers increased braking performance and is actuated by foot pedal or steering wheel stalk.

PACCAR FR 4.5 litre engine

The 4.5 litre four cylinder PACCAR FR engine is available with outputs of 140 hp, 160 hp or 185 hp and torque levels of 550 Nm, 600 Nm and 700 Nm respectively.

Type Performance Torque Available in
FR103 103 kW / 140 hp / 1,900-2,500 rpm 550 Nm / 1,200-1,700 rpm LF45
FR118 118 kW / 160 hp / 1,900-2,500 rpm 600 Nm / 1,200-1,800 rpm LF45
FR136 136 kW / 185 hp / 2,000-2,500 rpm 700 Nm / 1,200-1,800 rpm LF45/55

DAF SCR Technology for a bright future
The clean route

To meet the latest emission requirements, all PACCAR engine use the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. Not only because this is recognised as the best solution, it’s also currently the only economically viable choice for achieving Euro 4 and Euro 5 emission requirements.

Moreover, DAF SCR technology comes with smart injection technology, which improves combustion efficiency and avoids the need for power draining soot filters.

Also, because SCR technology is relatively simple it is extremely reliable, and because it does not interfere with the engine, the engine settings stay optimised for ideal combustion, which further minimises fuel consumption.

EEV diesel engines

DAF offers EEV (Enhanced Environmental friendly Vehicles)-engines, which emit around 50% fewer soot particles than the Euro 5 emission values, that come into effect from 2009.

By adding a passive soot filter to the SMART fuel injection and the DAF SCR technology, PACCAR EEV engines are even cleaner than CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) engines.

DAF supplies the 9.2 litre PACCAR PR EEV engine with power outputs from 250 to 360 hp in the DAF CF75. The 12.9 litre PACCAR MX EEV engine – with power outputs from 360 to 510 hp – is fitted to the CF85 and XF105.

EEV without a soot filter

As a result of the extremely efficient combustion process, the 4-cylinder PACCAR engine FR118 (160 hp) does not even require a soot filter to comply with the EEV requirements.
