World Class Technology


As a PACCAR company, DAF Trucks is a leader in applying state-of-the-art technology. World class systems and equipment are installed in Product Development, Manufacturing Operations, Sales and After Sales Support. DAF Trucks was the first truck manufacturer in the word to comply with the ISO/TS16949 quality standard.

Manufacturing Techology

Throughout DAF’s operations and processes, technology plays a vital role in delivering world class products and services. In manufacturing operations, robotic systems have further enhanced efficiency and quality. DAF has invested significantly in the past few years in its plants, both in  and in Westerlo.

DAF’s objective of achieving World Class Manufacturing is supported by investments in the most modern manufacturing equipment. The engine plant has been totally renewed, with the installation of Six Sigma compliant equipment for both machining and assembly. In the cab and axle factory in Westerlo, the latest available manufacturing techniques have been implemented.

Eindhoven Technical Centre

The DAF Technical Centre in Eindhoven employs over 700 engineers who work with the latest computer aided technologies. The centre has comprehensive research and testing facilities, including a state-of-the-art anechoic chamber for a wide range of noise measurements. In addition to the existing engine testing centre with 14 engine test chambers, a new advanced engine testing facility was commissioned in November 2007 and officially opened by the Dutch prime Minister in January 2008.

This new DAF Engine Test Centre includes 20 state-of-the-art test chambers. In product development, the use of the most advanced equipment and systems are of vital importance to shorten development lead times and extend world class quality leadership.

Information Technology (IT)

PACCAR’s European IT division supports DAF and its dealers with state-of-the-art IT systems throughout the entire life cycle of product development, production and aftermarket support. In the office, manufacturing, and product development environments, DAF employees can rely on the latest PC and network systems for the highest efficiency and quality.

Product development work is supported by modern CAD/CAM systems and 3-D programs, allowing for great efficiency and world class product development. In the factories, employees receive detailed work instructions via flatscreens while all engineering data for the product are stored in the central computer for traceability. Dealers worldwide are provided high-tech systems for defining the right vehicle specifications for the customer, ordering vehicles and replenishing parts.
